Description

The Cat's Eye Nebula (NGC6543) is about 3000 light years away in the Draco constellation.  It is a planetary nebula with a dying Rayet-Wolf star in its center.  The material which makes up the nebula was ejected from this star as it transitions through this dying process.  It is thought that our sun will face a similar fate as it approaches the end of its life.

Title: Cat's Eye Nebula (NGC6543) with Lucky Imaging Data

Description: I was somewhat disappointed by my original image's core so I tried using lucky imaging techniques to improve it. I took approximately 9600 1sec luminance exposures and used the best 5% to create a better representation of the nebula's core. This was my first attempt at using this technique and it did definitely improve the image.
